Trick-or-treaters on St. John had no trouble finding candy this Halloween. Mongoose Junction and the Trunk-or-Treat event at the gravel lot in Cruz Bay offered plenty of treats for children and families.
Parents guided their children down the main staircase at Mongoose Junction, where they met local resident Raven Phillips, who handed out candy.
“Raven Phillips of Bajo El Sol distributed candy to children, including this Curious George (Finn) and his mom, Willow Melamet.”
Early arrivals before 5 p.m. were rewarded with free books from the Little Free Library. Jeannie Bishop helped distribute the books while Raven Phillips observed.
A young fisherman was drawn to the book table, and Janet Cook-Rutnik, dressed as a character from one of her favorite Eric Carle books, also assisted in giving out books.
Photographer Yelena Rogers posed with her dog as they left Mongoose Junction.
As evening approached, most trick-or-treaters made their way to the gravel lot for the Trunk-or-Treat event. Adults created spooky displays in their car trunks to entertain children.
“Adults set up some spooky scenarios in the trunks of their cars, like this tableau by Jennifer Costanzo and Tessa Chilson of Moms Who Trunk.”
St. John’s community spirit came alive this Halloween through candy, free books, and creative trunk displays, making it a joyful evening for kids and parents alike.
