According to Miami police spokesperson Mike Vega, Brown was detained by U.S. Marshals in Dubai before being transported to Essex County, New Jersey. He is currently held there pending extradition to Miami.
Authorities have not clarified why Brown was first taken to New Jersey or how long he had been staying in Dubai. However, Brown had shared multiple posts from the region on social media in recent months.
Police said the incident happened on May 16, when Brown allegedly took a handgun from a security guard after the boxing match and fired two shots at a man with whom he had previously fought.
