Jennifer Lawrence has shared new details about the upcoming Martin Scorsese movie, What Happens at Night, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio. The film is scheduled to begin shooting in 2026.
What Happens at Night will be Martin Scorsese’s 27th feature-length film. The story follows an American couple who travel to a snowy European city with plans to adopt a child, only to face a series of strange and puzzling events.
The movie is adapted from Peter Cameron’s 2020 novel of the same name. The book’s description reveals the couple meets “characters ranging from an ancient, flamboyant chanteuse to a debauched businessman to an enigmatic faith healer.” It also states:
“Nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”
Besides Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, no additional casting news has been announced. Regarding the start of production, Lawrence told IndieWire:
“Hopefully, a January/February situation. But one never knows with these things. I’ll believe it when I’m there. Leo and I worked together on Don’t Look Up.”
This film promises a mysterious story set in a cold, enigmatic world, with two acclaimed stars returning to collaborate under Scorsese’s direction.
