[GCAxTHGS25] Marvel Rivals’ Danny Koo Reveals Exclusive Details on Zombie Mode, Rapid Hero Releases, and What’s Next - GamerBraves

Marvel Rivals’ Danny Koo Shares Insights on Zombie Mode and Future Plans

Marvel Games' Executive Producer Danny Koo, currently leading the development of Marvel Rivals, spoke at Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show about the game's evolving roadmap and upcoming features. Nearly 10 months after launch, Koo revealed ambitious plans including the introduction of PvE content and ongoing quality-of-life improvements.

Introduction of Marvel Zombie Mode

Marvel Rivals is expanding with its very first PvE mode called Marvel Zombie Mode. This limited-time event serves as a "testbed" featuring five playable characters who fight waves of undead enemies in New York, culminating in a battle against the Queen of the Dead.

“It’s the first PvE mode for Marvel Rivals. It only has five characters right now. It’s just like a testbed to see what players like, how the system works, and hopefully in the future we’ll deploy more PvE mode based on data collected from this round of PvE event.”

Collaboration and Authenticity

The new mode is created in collaboration with Marvel Animation, using assets taken directly from the show. The costumes and characters, including a zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead, closely match their animated appearances.

“We have a zombie Namor and a zombie Queen of the Dead from the show. The costumes are very close to the animation.”

Rapid Hero Releases and Content Strategy

Koo also discussed Marvel Rivals' aggressive content pipeline, releasing one new hero per month. Managing this rapid schedule has provided valuable lessons for the team in balancing content delivery and game quality.

Looking Ahead

Future updates will focus on expanding PvE modes based on player feedback and data collected from the current event. The team aims to continuously improve the player experience with fresh content and enhancements.

Summary

Marvel Rivals is innovating with its PvE Zombie Mode and maintaining a fast-paced hero release schedule, while prioritizing player feedback to evolve the game.
