Thailand hosted more than 100 contestants on Sunday as the 74th Miss Universe pageant began in Bangkok, including Cambodia’s representative. This marked the fourth time Thailand has held the global event, which carries the theme “The Grand Universe: The Power of Love, The Power of Thailand.”
The pageant activities will continue through November 21, spanning locations such as Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya, with the goal of showcasing Thailand’s tourism and cultural richness.
The Cambodian contestant, Thai Neary Socheata, known as Fiyata, arrived in Bangkok despite an announcement from her national license holder, ELEVENTO9 Company, stating Cambodia's withdrawal due to “unresolved situations between Cambodia and Thailand.”
Fiyata chose to join independently, which sparked online debate in both Thailand and Cambodia.
“I’ve arrived safely in Thailand. Thank you for the warm welcome, kindness, and support from everyone. Your love truly means so much to me.”
She was warmly welcomed by Cambodian fans at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
