The upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday carries enormous expectations for Marvel Studios. While the MCU remains a global force, its recent projects haven't shaken the box office as they once did. The Fantastic Four: First Steps earned just over $500 million—respectable, but modest by Marvel’s historic standards.
With the next Spider-Man installment on the horizon, the stage is set for the MCU’s long-awaited ensemble return. Avengers: Doomsday has already faced creative turbulence—shifting villains after Jonathan Majors’ exit, bringing in new directorial leadership, and adding legacy X-Men from the Fox era. The studio’s decision to bring back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom reportedly came at an astronomical price.
Marvel President Kevin Feige has hinted that the next two Avengers entries could close out the current MCU era, making this film a grand farewell to a generation of heroes.
“I mean, there are just so many actors in it, and getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them,” Simu Liu told ScreenRant.
“It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.”
By describing the project as both spectacular and heartfelt, Liu deepens fan anticipation, suggesting that Avengers: Doomsday may balance epic scale with emotional payoff.
Simu Liu’s comments have elevated the buzz around Avengers: Doomsday, promising both massive spectacle and emotional depth as Marvel nears the end of its current cinematic era.
