I want to begin by expressing my regret over Senator Dolega's remarks and the offensive implications directed at coalition senators and members. According to Labor, it now seems to be considered offensive to drape oneself in the Australian flag and take pride in it.

How dare you suggest that displaying pride in our country and flag is an act of dog whistling? Through you, Chair, I reject Senator Dolega’s implication that patriotism is dog whistling.
Many people want to immigrate to our country because we are a great nation with one of the most successful migration histories in the world. We are a proud migrant nation and celebrate our multicultural identity.
