Outfielder Leody Taveras has agreed to join the Baltimore Orioles on a one-year, $2 million deal, according to reports from the New York Post’s Jon Heyman and Spanish broadcaster Mike Rodriguez.
The 27-year-old switch-hitting centerfielder appeared in 58 games this season for Seattle and Texas, posting a .205 batting average with three home runs, 17 RBIs, and a .530 OPS. He also stole nine bases in 12 attempts.
During the 2024 season with the Texas Rangers, Taveras played in 151 games, hitting .229 with 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, and a .641 OPS, while successfully stealing 23 bases in 29 tries.
After being optioned to Triple-A Tacoma in June, Taveras finished strong there, batting .280 with an .804 OPS, 11 home runs, 69 RBIs, and 23 steals in 24 attempts.
The Orioles will need to clear a spot on their 40-man roster to accommodate Taveras.
