Aimee Lou Wood Shares Support from Angelina Jolie on "Anxious People" Set

Aimee Lou Wood, known for her role in "The White Lotus," opened up about receiving support from Angelina Jolie while filming Anxious People, a Marc Forster film adaptation of Fredrik Backman's novel.

On-set Experience and Speaking Up

During the shoot of an emotional scene, Wood began to panic under the pressure of multiple directions. She decided to voice her feelings, a change from her past hesitation to appear argumentative.

“I've spent years feeling unable to say anything like that for fear of seeming argumentative – but now I feel like I can take ownership of what I need to thrive, and tell people what won’t work for me,” Wood explained.

She recalled Angelina Jolie’s encouraging gesture during the moment:

“When I spoke up, all I could see was Angelina giving me a thumbs up. She’s possibly the most famous woman ever, but she’s so normal.”

Criticism of "Saturday Night Live" Parody

Wood also expressed her disappointment with an SNL parody that mocked her teeth by featuring Sarah Sherman wearing fake buck teeth impersonating her character.

Reflecting on Life in Los Angeles

Speaking candidly about her experience living in Los Angeles, she described it as emotionally challenging:

"I say that as an ex-bulimic. It is this super-sized adventure where everyone’s talking about you all the time and you have to talk about yourself all the time. And then I leave, and I want to throw it all up."

Now aged 31, Wood continues to rise in her career while learning to advocate for her own well-being.

Anxious People is based on the popular novel by Fredrik Backman.
