Edinburgh Trams to commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams to Commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and recent conflicts.

Free Travel for Veterans and Service Members

To recognize the sacrifices made by armed forces members, veterans and active personnel of the Army, Navy, and Air Force can travel free on trams during both remembrance days. Eligibility is confirmed by showing a military ID or wearing a uniform.

Poppy Sales and Displays

Before the commemorations, Poppy Scotland representatives will be at the Haymarket tram stop selling poppies. Poppies will also be displayed in tram windows as a symbol of remembrance.

Two-Minute Silence Observance

When safe, tram services will pause at 11 a.m. on both days to observe a two-minute silence, allowing passengers and staff to reflect and show respect.

Statement from Edinburgh Trams Managing Director

“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and a number of our colleagues being former service men and women, we are passionate about paying tribute to all of those who have paid the ultimate price throughout the years while serving our country.”

Summary: Edinburgh Trams honors fallen servicemen and women with free travel for veterans, poppy displays, and moments of silence on key Remembrance dates.
