‘Losing support’: Liberal Senator raises serious concerns with Sussan Ley’s leadership

Losing Support: Liberal Senator Voices Concerns Over Sussan Ley’s Leadership

Senior Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson has raised doubts about Sussan Ley's leadership amid growing internal Coalition debates on the net zero policy.

Partyroom Tensions Over Net Zero

The Liberal Party faces increasing pressure to clarify its stance on net zero emissions, especially as the Nationals have abandoned the policy. A decisive partyroom meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 16, to determine the Coalition's final position.

Senator Henderson’s Critique

Speaking to Sky News Australia host Peter Stefanovic, Senator Henderson, who opposes the net zero policy herself, expressed concerns about Ms Ley’s standing within the party.

"I cannot support the way things are," Senator Henderson said. "I can't pretend things are good. We've had a dire Newspoll result, a primary vote of just 24 per cent. Things are not traveling well."
"I do have to say, really honestly, I do think Sussan is losing support, but I do believe in miracles, we can turn things around. I don't support things the way they are at the moment."

Upcoming Partyroom Showdown

The scheduled meeting next week aims to finalize the Coalition's approach to net zero emissions, setting the stage for key leadership and policy decisions.
