A parade and ceremony will be held on Remembrance Day, November 11th, to honor fallen Canadian soldiers and recognize the service of living veterans and active military members.
The city’s annual Remembrance Day parade and ceremony will start at 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11th, downtown Fort St. John. This event is a tribute to local veterans and commemorates those who served.
Organized by the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, the parade begins outside the School District 60 office on 102nd Street. It proceeds past the legion building along 105th Avenue, reaches City Hall, and then returns to the cenotaph for an outdoor ceremony.
After the ceremony, participants and attendees are invited to join activities inside the legion. According to the City of Fort St. John’s website, attractions include horse races, a turkey shoot, and a dinner. The event is free and does not require pre-registration.
BC Transit will offer free rides to veterans on Remembrance Day. Road closures will be implemented along the parade route and near the legion building from 9:30 a.m. to noon, with no vehicle access permitted during this time.
