The Minnesota Wild, aiming for a third consecutive victory, twice took one-goal leads and later tied the game 3–3. Despite a strong showing, they ultimately fell 4–3 to the Carolina Hurricanes, who answered every challenge in a resilient comeback.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t find a way to win the hockey game, but it was a hard-fought battle by both teams,” said Wild coach John Hynes. “They had pushes and surges, and we had pushes and surges. But, unfortunately, we weren’t the team to win it tonight.”
“This is a really good team we’re playing against, and we’re matching up against them pretty good today,” said goaltender Filip Gustavsson, adding that he stayed calm and didn’t make major adjustments during the game.
With the loss, Minnesota dropped to a 5–7–3 record and remained winless (0–6–1) when trailing after the first period. Their early power play opportunity yielded no shots on goal, setting a difficult tone for the night.
The Wild showed determination and offensive spark, but Carolina’s relentless response turned a potential streak into another learning moment for Minnesota.
