Beloved Chef’s New Sydney Venue Promises to Blow You Away

The British chef known for his love of linen and sauvignon blanc is launching his Australian flagship restaurant. Rick Stein’s debut in a Sydney metro area is scheduled for December 1 and is already being seen as an early Christmas gift for food lovers.

Rick Stein At Coogee will be located above the sands of Coogee Beach and forms part of the multimillion-dollar renovation of the InterContinental Hotel. This restaurant will serve as a local flagship for Stein and his wife, Sarah, who also run regional New South Wales restaurants at Bannisters by the Sea in Mollymook and Bannisters Port Stephens.

“ Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,” Stein said. “It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”

The initial menu, created under the guidance of head chef Colin Chun (from W Taipei), spotlights local and seasonal seafood. The space is designed to accommodate both casual and more upscale dining, complemented by an adjoining bar.
