Australian batsman Tim David believes his massive six in Hobart traveled farther than the recorded distance and has ambitious goals ahead of the T20 World Cup next year. After hitting an impressive 74 runs off just 38 balls against India, David emphasized that the match had little effect on World Cup plans due to pitch variations depending on the opposition.
David launched one of his five sixes at Bellerive Oval an enormous 129 meters, setting the record for the longest six in T20 international history and the biggest six measured by broadcaster Fox Cricket. The shot narrowly missed going out of the stadium, hitting a sign atop the grandstand roof instead.
“It’s good fun hitting balls on the roof. I haven’t seen any balls up there and I haven’t hit any up there,”
David said, recalling his previous sixes in Hobart playing for the Hurricanes in the BBL.
He added, “I was hoping it would land on the beach. It hit the top rung of that little advertising sign. I’m always dubious about the measurements.”
David eagerly embraces his promotion up the batting order, part of Australia’s aggressive strategy to boost their World Cup chances.
Tim David aims to build on his record-breaking six and elevated batting position to become a key T20 World Cup weapon for Australia.
