Hilary Duff confirmed her musical comeback with the release of the single Mature on Thursday, November 6. This marks her first new music since the 2015 album Breathe In., Breathe Out.
The 37-year-old former Disney Channel star shared the news on Monday, November 3, unveiling the cover art for Mature, which features a moody triptych image of Duff gazing thoughtfully into the distance.
“So happy this is finally yours to hear. Been keeping this one quiet too long,” Duff wrote in an Instagram post announcing the single.
During her music hiatus, Duff has concentrated on acting, including roles in TV series such as How I Met Your Father and Younger. In addition to her new music, a docuseries documenting her return to music and personal journey is in development.
Known as a longtime ally of the LGBTQ+ community, Duff described her musical return as a tribute to her devoted queer fanbase.
“It’s just to impress them,” Duff said about the excitement from gay fans regarding her comeback.
