WhatsApp has introduced passkey support to secure end-to-end encrypted chat backups, making it easier to access them in case of a lost or damaged phone.
Previously, users had to note down a 64-digit string to unlock encrypted backups, but passkeys allow for quick access using biometric or screen lock codes.
To set up passkey backups, users can tap on the profile icon on Android or the Settings tab on iOS.
Passkeys let you quickly access and restore your WhatsApp chats on any device with your biometric or screen lock code.
This feature has been in testing and is now rolling out globally on both Android and iOS.
