The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA) has cancelled a project to install shore power at the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal due to high costs and complexity.
Despite $31.5 million in funding from Transport Canada and the B.C. Ministry of Transportation, a feasibility study found the project to be financially unviable.
The least expensive option would have required a large electrical substation and a 7.5km power cable extension from Topaz Park to Ogden Point.
No statement was provided by the authority regarding future plans.
