Resignation and Special Election
Marcus Wiedower, first sworn into office in 2019, has resigned from the Georgia General Assembly to focus on his role at Hillpointe, a real estate development firm.
His immediate resignation from House District 121 triggers a special election to be held in December.
- Democrat Eric Gisler is currently running for the House seat in 2026 and may choose to run in the special election.
- This is not the first resignation of a State Representative for Oconee, following Rep. Chuck Williams and Regina Quick's resignations in 2017.
In 2017, special elections were held to fill the seats of Rep. Chuck Williams and Regina Quick, resulting in Democrats Jonathan Wallace and Deborah Gonzalez flipping both House seats representing Oconee County.
