Rescue centres 'full' of animals given up because of landlord bans on pets

Rescue Centres Overwhelmed with Animals Given Up Due to Landlord Pet Bans

Rescue centres in Ireland are facing a crisis as they are "full" of animals that have been surrendered by their owners due to landlord bans on pets.

"It's terrible, it's really terrible," said Martina Kenny, founder of My Lovely Horse rescue centre. "A pet can be a really huge part of your family; it can help mental health, the children can be in bits without it."

The housing crisis in Ireland has led to a severe shortage of rental accommodation, forcing many people to move into homes where pets are not allowed. This includes properties under the jurisdiction of Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs).
