Two SNL political cold opens took place between Election Day 2024 and 2025.

SNL Cold Open for Trump: November 10, 2024

The first "Saturday Night Live" episode following the 2024 Presidential Election opened with cast members Bowen Yang, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, and Heidi Gardner in a somber mood. The sketch began with the cast members stating the election results.

"Thanks to the Supreme Court, there are no guardrails," - Bowen Yang.

Ego Nwodim agreed, mentioning the lack of protection for people who "speak out against him".

"And that is why we at SNL would like to say to Donald Trump, we have been with you all along," - Kenan Thompson.

The skit continued with more cast members entering the stage to praise Trump. Colin Jost appeared, jokingly throwing his "Weekend Update" partner under the bus.

"I hate how the lame stream media, Michael Che, tries to spin it to make you look foolish," - Colin Jost.
