NGA Helps Promote Natural Daylighting in Schools

The National Glass Association (NGA) Advocacy and Technical Team has achieved a major success at the ICC Committee Action Hearings.

Working together with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Professor Juan Miro of University of Texas Austin, and the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC), two critical building code proposals have been approved. These proposals promote natural daylighting in schools, dormitories, and apartments.

According to the NGA, these victories will help end the trend of windowless dormitories and ensure healthier environments for students and residents.

A special thanks to Lisa Heschong for her pioneering research on daylighting and the “right to light,” which provided the foundation for these proposals.

Author summary: NGA promotes natural daylighting.
