The Pittsburgh Pirates are game planning for a crucial winter, looking to break from mediocrity and push for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
The Athletics's Jim Bowden listed the Pirates as potential fits for several top 50 free agents, including Trent Grisham and Luis Arráez, to fill holes in the lineup and bullpen.
Grisham is coming off a strong season with the Yankees, slashing .235/.348/.464 with career-highs in home runs (34) and RBI (74) in 143 games.
The Pirates have obvious holes to fill, and there’s mounting pressure that could lead to some relatively larger swings in free agency.
