Permanent Deacons Called to Serve
Cardinal Robert W. McElroy emphasized the importance of permanent deacons bringing hope and joy to those they serve, particularly the poor, lonely, widowed, orphaned, and marginalized.
“The call – and the grace that Christ gave you in that call – and the sacrifices you make means you are called to be the one who says, ‘don’t lose hope, don’t give up’,”
Cardinal McElroy said during a Mass at St. Joseph Church in Largo, Maryland, where about 100 deacons, their wives, and others attended the convocation.
