A new report by FMinus reveals a conflict of interest in Canadian lobbying, where major environmental organizations and civil society groups share lobbyists with big polluters.
According to the report, prepared in conjunction with Environmental Defence and re•generation, this overlap undermines the nation's climate action efforts, prioritizing the interests of major polluters.
“As the climate crisis gets worse for Canadians, there’s a hidden cause,”said James Browning, founder and executive director of FMinus, in an interview with DeSmog.
The report highlights the need for greater transparency and accountability in lobbying practices to ensure that environmental organizations' efforts are not compromised by conflicting interests.
Author's summary: Canadian lobbyists serve both polluters and environmental groups.
