Train Accident Claims Life of Elko Man
A train accident in South Houston County resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man from Elko on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Houston County Coroner, the victim was identified as Benjamin Martin. The incident occurred near the Flournoy Road crossing in Elko around 3 p.m.
Martin was hit by a train on the railroad tracks, and the reason for his presence on the tracks is currently unknown. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at the GBI Crime Lab, and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
