Rookie sensation Ivan Demidov had a goal and two assists, leading the Montreal Canadiens to a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Other scorers for Montreal included Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Mike Matheson, with goalie Jakub Dobeš making 28 saves to secure the win.

Vancouver's goals came from Elias Pettersson, Jake DeBrusk, and Conor Garland, with captain Quinn Hughes and Pettersson each providing two assists.

Pettersson opened the scoring 4:42 into the first period, converting a nice return pass from Filip Hronek for his second goal of the season.

The Canucks outshot the Canadiens 11-4 in the first period, despite the presence of many vocal Montreal fans.
