Opera Star Lesley Garrett Visits Bradford
Over 1,000 Bradford schoolchildren participated in singing workshops with opera star Lesley Garrett.
The sessions, which included the BBC Singers and BBC Radio Leeds' Bantam of the Opera, took place at Green Lane and Margaret McMillan primary schools and were filmed by the BBC for its Morning Live programme.
These workshops are part of the Bradford UK City of Culture 2025 celebrations and are linked to a legacy project aimed at giving pupils from the Priestley Academy Trust access to musical experiences.
We have found that music resonates deeply with our pupils: they love to sing, listen to music, and learn musical instruments.
said Tom Fay, director of school improvement at the Priestley Academy Trust.
