Jessica Currin disappeared in Mayfield, Kentucky, in 2000, and was later found dead. The man serving a life sentence for her murder, Quincy Cross, has been granted a new evidentiary hearing.
Currin, 18, disappeared on July 29, 2000, leaving behind an infant son. Cross was convicted in 2008 of capital kidnapping, murder, rape, sodomy, and other charges, and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
A special judge has granted an evidentiary hearing on recanted testimony, allowing Cross' lawyers to present evidence in an effort to vacate the conviction or grant a new trial. The hearing is scheduled for November.
No statement from the judge or the lawyers was available.
