Lakers' Jaxson Hayes Sits Out Against Timberwolves

The Los Angeles Lakers were down another big man for Friday night's home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jaxson Hayes was ruled out due to left knee soreness.

Hayes played 14 minutes in the season-opening loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, recording four points and six rebounds. With Maxi Kleber sidelined for at least the next couple of weeks due to a strained oblique, Hayes was the primary backup big man behind starting center Deandre Ayton.

After being downgraded to questionable Friday morning, Coach JJ Redick announced that Hayes was being downgraded to unavailable. The Lakers made two-way center Christian Koloko available against the Timberwolves to address the hit to their big man depth.

No statement from Jaxson Hayes was available at the time of the report.
