Social Security Benefits to Increase by 2.8% in 2026
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced a 2.8% increase in Social Security benefits for 2026, affecting 75 million Americans who receive Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments.
On average, Social Security retirement benefits will increase by about $56 per month starting in January 2026, providing a modest cost of living adjustment for seniors and other recipients.
The 2.8% cost of living increase will be applied to benefits as of January 2026.
