Mary Lynk on Democracy's Crossroads
Mary Lynk, a journalist and Dal alum, moderated the 2025 Stanfield Conversation on challenges to the rule of law and the future of liberal democracy. As she notes, "Lines are being crossed that once seemed unimaginable."
Lynk's journey into journalism began at a young age, influenced by her family's love of books and lively dinner discussions. She recalls,
"If my mother met an intriguing stranger, within five minutes they received a dinner invitation."
These childhood experiences sparked her interest in journalism, which she pursued with a specialty in human rights issues, world politics, social issues, and philosophy.
