Sam Surridge, a 27-year-old striker, is thriving in America's Deep South for Major League Soccer (MLS) side Nashville SC, despite not being fond of southern fried chicken and country music.
The food is the only thing that I've struggled with – there’s a lot of fried stuff and it's pretty difficult to find foods that I'd have back home.
Surridge has found ways to cope with the food difference, getting his favorite Heinz baked beans shipped over or having family members bring them to him.
