BYD Orders Massive Recall: Over 115,000 EVs Pulled for Safety Fixes

BYD, the powerhouse driving China’s electric vehicle boom, has announced its largest recall to date, with over 115,000 cars being recalled due to safety risks tied to design and battery issues.

China’s market watchdog, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), stated that BYD will recall 44,535 Tang series SUVs built between March 2015 and July 2017, and 71,248 Yuan Pro electric cars made between February 2021 and August 2022.

Battery safety has always been the tightrope every EV maker walks.

BYD has filed a plan to replace parts and update systems free of charge.
