Why I Still Love Newspapers
I am a week late to this discussion, having recently shared my experiences of being in Iraq 20 years ago with the brave men and women of Georgia's 48th Brigade Combat Team, where I encountered an IED up close.
Last week marked National Newspaper Week, a celebration close to my heart for different reasons. I consider myself fortunate to have the best job in the world, where I get to share my thoughts with readers each week, courtesy of the editors, and then receive feedback on those thoughts.
Over nearly three decades, I have formed lasting bonds with regular readers, many of whom I have never met in person. You, the readers, have been with me through both good and challenging times, offering constructive criticism when needed and confirming the column's reach through your responses to errors or inaccuracies.
I have the best job in the world.
