The average rate on 30-year mortgages slipped to 6.27% from 6.3% last week, while 15-year rates dropped to 5.52% from 5.53%.
In Washington, the average rate on a 30-year U.S. mortgage declined again, easing to just above its lowest level this year, according to mortgage buyer Freddie Mac.
The latest dip brings the average rate to just above 6.26%, where it was four weeks ago after a string of declines brought down home loan borrowing costs to their lowest level since early October 2024.
A year ago, the 30-year rate averaged 6.44% and the 15-year rate was 5.5%.
