County Fair Board fills vacancies, DHS pinches staffing to help offset budget shortfall – The Sopris Sun

County Fair Board and Budget Hearings

The Garfield Board of County Commissioners tackled a relatively short agenda on Monday, reviewing new applicants for the County Fair board.

Four new applicants, Scott Schilt, Aaron Walker, Kevin Costanzo, and Jozie Merritt, were considered for three contested seats. Levy Burris had resigned, leaving one seat vacant, while Oliviya Daugherty and Leah Bergener sought reappointment for another three-year term.

“To me that’s just something that can’t take place,”

Schilt said, pointing to an event where the National Anthem was sung without a flag present, emphasizing his ability to help keep the fair from falling short.
