Anduril YFQ-44A Fury Collaborative Combat Aircraft Completes First Flight

The prototype of Anduril's YFQ-44A Fury collaborative combat aircraft successfully completed its maiden flight in California at the end of October. The test marks a significant step in Anduril’s effort to provide the Air Force with an advanced loyal wingman drone.

The flight took place at the Southern California Logistics Airport in Victorville and was accompanied by two L-29 Delfin trainer jets. This event follows the first flight of General Atomics’ YFQ-42A drone in August.

“Anduril has launched a new age of airpower with the push of a button. From clean-sheet design to one-click takeoff in 556 days.”

While details of the test flight remain limited, sources indicate that Anduril has multiple YFQ-44 prototypes currently undergoing ground testing. The ongoing evaluation focuses on flight performance, including speed, maneuverability, autonomy, stealth, range, and integration of weapons systems.

The Air Force has not finalized procurement numbers but previously mentioned a tentative goal of approximately 1,000 collaborative combat aircraft, with about 100–150 expected in the initial production stage.
